UPDATE! Rugby is now living in his new home with Fred in Hagerstown, MD. Here are a couple photos of Rugby and Fred: Rugby is a lovely black masked red boy about 2 years old. He gets along well with other dogs. He is calm, reserved, and is housebroken. He would like to be the alpha dog so he needs to go to an owner with a calm firm presence. When he gets to know you he is extremely loving, Please contact me for additional information.

UPDATE! Hazal Salomè is now living in with Amanda and Neil in NJ. Here is a quote from a post from Amanda: We've been contemplating getting a second dog for some time now, and up until a few months ago had been planning on getting a show puppy. However, circumstances being what they are we had to face the fact that we just currently don't have the time we would need to show and so have put that on hold for awhile. We still wanted a second dog though, and decided to go the rescue route, since a puppy would just be a little more than we could take on. We'd met the D'Vangel's afghans last winter and really just fell in love with them, and we kept looking at pictures and reading up on them, and decided that an afghan was the way to go for us. We love the athleticism and personality of the breed, and I love grooming, so it seemed like a perfect fit. We put in our application with Afghan rescue back in September or August, and pretty much nothing happened. They checked our references but we could never get the home visit done, I guess due to scheduling issues. I'm not really sure. Then, in early October, Sach (Eddie)called me to tell me about a beautiful black masked red bitch that the Tara Afghan Hound Club had pulled out of an Atlanta shelter, and how sweet she was, etc. Long story somewhat less long, we were approved without the home visit and Sach got the process going so that we could adopt the dog, named Hazal. We owe him BIG, because without him driving the process who knows how long it would have taken. Hazal (now known as Salomè) arrived on a Delta flight into Newark airport with the D'Vangels (who were coming to NJ for entirely different reasons and were kind enough to bring her along) Friday night I was in the ER so my husband had to meet them on his own and take care of everything, but it went off without a hitch and we now have our newest and last member of the family in place. She is so sweet, very loving and just wants to cuddle with you. She is also smart and has learned "sit" and we are working on "leave it" with some success already. She very obviously wants to lure course, so we will get her started with that as soon as the weather warms up in the spring. ... She is SO sweet...it is crazy how well this has worked out. We've discovered that she doesn't like being alone though - the first two nights she went to bed with no problems, but Sunday night she started howling when we went upstairs. I took her out for an extra pee break, but no luck. I gave her a bone to chew, and no luck. As a last-ditch measure I moved Topper's crate next to hers and voila! She quieted down. She'll bark if he's out of her sight while she's in her crate, and he'll do the same. It looks like they are getting quite attached to each other. Note: A home visit was still performed by me. - Eddie You can see her gallery of photos of her in her new home. UPDATE! Hazal has a home lined up and should be with her new family on November 9th. Hazal needs a home. Tara Afghan Hound Rescue is working to get her into a foster home, but in the mean time, if you or someone you know would like to rescue this little girl, please contact the Fulton County Animal Services at

UPDATE! Suki found a home along with her sister, Sasha, and is now living in Wilmington, NC. Georgia Barnum was nice enough to take in these two girls and let them live out their lives on her land. Pictures will be posted when as they come in. Thank you, Georgia, from all of Tara and every person that loves Afghans. Original: Suki comes to us from a puppy mill, along with Sasha. We believe she is 9 and recently spayed. She is healthy and friendly but does have a few personality issues and cannot be housebroken at this age. If any one has a set-up right off their back door with shelter and a place for her to live out her life it would be so wonderful. Please feel free to call or email with any questions. Suki is currently living with Linda Shipley. |
